Receive Your Vision
God has placed a vision in each one of us. It is our responsibility to seek God and find what He has called us to do.
Webster Dictionary defines a vision as the act or power of seeing. Proverbs 29:18 in the KJV says where there is no vision the people perish. The word vision in Greek means a mental sight, a dream, revelation, oracle, prophecy. The word perish in the book of Proverbs in Greek has a meaning of a sense to let something slip through the fingers by ignoring an opportunity and probably has a definition of being undisciplined.
The question you present to yourself is what is my vision? What has God called me to do in His kingdom? God does not think small rather He does things on a larger scale. In Genesis 1, He saw, He said and the mental sight came into existence. In Genesis 13:14 God told Abram to lift his eyes now and look and He would give Abram the land as far as he could see, but before Abram could get to that point he had to get out of his country away from his family, away from his fathers house. Now God is not telling you to leave your home, your family, although He may tell you to get away from familiarity, your comfort zone and from having tunnel vision. He has to get to a higher place so you can look out across the horizon. God always rewards obedience. Jesus is our example in John 3:16 the Word tells us that He came to save the world. Jesus never lost focus of that vision no matter what Satan threw at him. Hebrews 12:1-3 says that Jesus saw the cross, but looking through He saw the victory.
There are many obstacles that will try to rob you of your vision. These are just a few.
1. Satan, John 10:10a the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy.
2. Opposition from family and friends, Genesis 37:5&9 Joseph told his brothers about the dreams that he had.
3. Thoughts 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 we are to bring every thought into captivity.
4. Murmuring and complaining 1 Corinthians 10:10, Philippians 2:14, Murmuring is sullen dissatisfaction with things thus causing you to start complaining.
5. Cares of the world Mark 4:19 cares are the worries, concerns, the anxieties that attack you.
Galations 6:9 tells us not to become weary for Jesus said He would send us the Helper, the Holy Spirit ( John 15:26) and that the Spirit of Truth would guide you. John 16:13
You may be thinking I do not know if I have ever received a vision of what God wants me to do or how do I expand the vision God has given to me. God can use any method He chooses to reveal your vision to you.
1. The number one way that God leads is the Inward Witness Romans 8:14 For as many as are led (ruled, govern) by the Spirit of God, these are sons (mature children) of God.
2. Scriptures 2 Timothy 3:16 all scripture (Gods revelation) is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.
3. Prayer Acts 1:4, 14, 2:1
4. Meditation - quiet contemplation of spiritual truths, Joshua 1:8, 1 Timothy 4:15
5. Dreams - thoughts visualized in sleep Acts 2:17-18
6. Visions Acts 9:10-19, 10:9-22
How do I know if the vision I have received is from God?
1. A vision will always be scripture based.
2. Jesus will be exalted.
The vision you have received from God should be a driving force to fulfill the call that God has placed in you. Stay focused on your vision for through the vision others will be blessed. God will not place a vision in you that can not be attained with His help. What is impossible with us is not with God. You need not stand in a low place rather you need to go to a high place, which is Jesus, to see the horizon. He always has seen greater things.
He still sees great things, so you need to see yourself doing great things in the kingdom of God John 14:12. Dream big, have faith in God and be confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ Philippians 1:6.
Hebrews 11:6 For with out faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
So increase your vision (mental sight) for God’s plan and He will reward you. God is faithful, so don’t let an opportunity slip through your fingers by not knowing what God has called you to do.
